Top AVAX Supporting Wallets

Avalanche (AVAX) is a widely listed asset that can be acquired from multiple brokerages and exchanges. Holding AVAX for the purpose of play-to-earn uses C-Chain and may require the right wallet tools to access that chain directly, or move AVAX from P-Chain and C-Chain.

MetaMask

MetaMask is the most suitable C-Chain wallet, directly linking to P2E games after the prompt. MetaMask must be configured once for accessing C-Chain, and cannot accept tokens from other chains. The wallet can add Avalanche C-Chain with the following inputs:

Avalanche Wallet

The native wallet of Avalanche has the important function of switching between chains. The wallet is web-based and generated with a 24-word seed phrase. 

The most important function is the cross-chain swap, which accepts tokens from the incoming chain and moves them to the needed blockchain. X-Chain is for swaps, P-Chain is for staking and validation, and C-Chain, or Contract Chain, is the tool for accessing smart contracts, NFT and games.

Coinbase Wallet

Coinbase Wallet can be added as a wallet extension to Firefox. The wallet requires a user name and strong password, as well as safely storing the 12-word phrase. Coinbase Wallet has access to NFT items. 

Avalanche C-Chain needs no setup and can be selected from the menu of available chains. The default for the wallet is Ethereum, and there are no options to switch between the three Avalanche chains. Only send C-Chain tokens to Coinbase Wallet.

Ledger Nano X

Ledger Nano X is the solution for cold storage. The wallet app can be used as any other desktop wallet with multi-asset access. Ledger Nano X, however, is not always the best choice for P2E connectivity, especially for browser-based games.

Trust Wallet

Trust Wallet, the app owned by Binance, is a multi-asset hub with a mobile-first approach. Trust Wallet can be simulated on desktop, but is resource-intensive. This wallet’s advantage is the convenient visualization of NFTs and a native market tab to display buying and resale opportunities.

Any wallet can be used to buy some initial AVAX for fees. If the wallet is not convenient for other tasks, a combination of two wallets is the best. Storing valuable NFTs may be done in a disconnected wallet, while using a dedicated new MetaMask wallet for gaming.
